Cadence
Practice music with interactive sheet
A minimalist, local sheet-music player for musicians who want to play along on a real instrument. Point it at your own folder of MusicXML scores and practice with a clean, scrolling view that follows the music. Features Plays MusicXML files (.mxl, .musicxml, .xml) from a local folder you choose Recursively scans the folder and all subfolders into a simple library Live notation with a scrolling view that follows playback automatically A green vertical playhead bar shows exactly where to look while you play Adjustable score size (zoom) Standard transport: play, pause, stop, restart Count-in click and an optional metronome Precise tempo control plus a tempo trainer that speeds up automatically each pass — start slow, build up A/B loop to repeat a tricky passage Mute or solo individual parts (e.g. mute one hand and play it yourself) Keyboard shortcuts for hands-free practice Local-only & private Cadence runs entirely on your Mac. Your scores stay in your local folder, the optional filename cleanup talks only to a local Ollama instance on your own machine, and there's no account, no cloud upload, and no tracking of your library. Privacy by design — it does locally what others lock behind paid subscriptions. About your files & copyright The MusicXML format itself is an open, royalty-free standard — Cadence simply reads and plays it. The app ships with no scores of its own; you supply your own files. While the format is free to use, individual scores may still be protected by the copyright of their composer or arranger. Cadence is intended for files you created yourself or legally own, for personal practice. You're responsible for the rights to the files you load, and the app isn't meant for distributing copyrighted scores.
