About Lyricsmith
Write lyrics with intelligent assistance identfying Rhyming, Structure, Rhythm, and Analysis. Includes Rhyming dictionary, thesaurus, end-rhyme structures, rhythm analysis, word analysis. Export your work as plain text or formatted lyric sheets. Build your catalog with a clean, intuitive editor designed for songwriters. Key Features: Rhyme coloring — each block's rhyming end-words are tinted with one of 6 cycling colors; the letter badge matches, so you see at a glance which lines rhyme Internal rhyme / near-rhyme — words that echo within a line (shared end-sound, assonance, or consonance) get a light dotted underline, distinct from the colored end-rhyme highlight. Meter marks — small dots above each word show heuristic stressed (filled) vs. unstressed (faint) syllables to match cadence. Length check — a line's syllable count turns amber (with a hover note) when it's 30%+ off its block's average. Repetition & clichés — a new Analysis tab lists overused words with counts (click one to search rhymes) and softly nudges on common cliché pairs (it flagged "heart / apart" and "fire / desire" in the test). Persistence/autosave Song library — sidebar lists songs with metadata subtitle; create/rename/delete/switch present. Metadata bar — Key / BPM / Genre above the editor. Version history + Export + Copy + Focus — toolbar has Save version, Version history, Copy to clipboard, Export song, and Focus-mode toggle (plus sidebar/inspector toggles) Tag palette — 10 tag chips ([Verse]…[Ad-lib]) plus custom-tag input. Structure navigator — the Structure tab lists detected sections (Intro, Verse 1, Pre-Chorus, Chorus…) with line counts and avg syllables/line (e.g. 11.0, 4.3), with 21 clickable jump links. Tempo density Datamuse modes — query-mode dropdown ("Perfect rhymes" + the 5 others). Result filters — syllable-count and part-of-speech ("Any syllables" / "Any type"). Word Bank — pinnable per-song favorites section. Rhythm Heat Map — a thermometer toggle in the editor toolbar overlays color onto your lyrics during revision (auto-hidden in the distraction-free drafting mode, and it skips [tags] and ALL-CAPS cues): Gray line — "sleep" warning: natural rhythm perfectly matches a rigid metric pattern. Red words — rhythm-forcing: archaic contractions ('tis, 'neath, 'twas), filler "do" ("when stars do shine"), and grammatical inversions ("came the dawn"). Yellow words — confusion: a bare noun likely missing an article or pronoun. Green words — vitality: a tasteful substitution against the meter (e.g. a trochee opening an iambic line). Rhythm tab (Critic's Study) — diagnostic counts for each of the four above, plus a Living Speech panel (archaic words, exhausted clichés like "red as a rose", and ponderous polysyllables to trade for short Anglo-Saxon words), and a toggleable Best Practices reference. Assonance & Consonance search — the rhyme dictionary now has a dedicated "Assonance (vowel echo)" mode and a relabelled "Consonance" mode for off-rhymes that expand your vocabulary beyond strict end-rhymes.
