Metadata Cleaner
Remove metadata from files and images
Metadata can reveal far more about a file than you might expect — when and where a photo was taken, what device created it, author and company information, software history, comments, and other hidden details you may not want to share. I made Metadata Cleaner because I could not find a simple FOSS macOS app built around the mat2 workflow I trusted from Linux. Most Mac metadata-cleaning GUIs I found were built around ExifTool, while mat2 takes a more aggressive, format-aware approach to removing metadata from supported files. Metadata Cleaner keeps the workflow simple: add files, inspect the metadata they contain, clean them, and save non-destructive .cleaned copies while leaving the originals untouched. It is free, open source, zero cloud, and designed to do one job well. Inspired by the excellent Metadata Cleaner project from the Linux community: https://gitlab.com/rmnvgr/metadata-cleaner
